More about Tim Waller

Tim is a Chartered Financial Divorce Specialist (CFDS) as well as a Certified Investment Manager (CIM) with over 20 years experience in the financial services industry.  He is also licensed to provide insurance advice in Ontario.  Tim can help you and your clients navigate through investment, tax, insurance and estate issues.  He is currently a Financial Advisor with Raymond James Ltd in Ottawa.

Tim seeks to establish open, honest and long-standing relationships. His approach to financial advice is more than creating a plan. It is creating the right plan based on each individual’s life and goals. The only way to achieve this is by understanding the client’s whole life, beyond simply the financial aspect.  After personally going through a divorce in 2016, Tim discovered that traditional financial planning services don’t address the complexity and emotional stress of having to start over.  Tim’s goal is to help individuals and their legal teams understand the financial issues related to divorce and provide meaningful recommendations to help them come to an equitable agreement on division of their assets.

Most businesses have a CFO to keep them on track.  When Tim meets with a business owner, retiree, professional, or divorcee for the first time, they are often surprised that Raymond James is truly a one stop shop that can keep them on track personally.  “I didn’t know you did that” comes up again and again.  The starting point for all clients is a financial plan. Anything that involves a dollar sign, including debt and insurance will be reviewed in this process.

Tim’s most important job is to listen to, and understand you and your family’s investment needs, and to work with you to set out short and long-term investment objectives. He will work with you to define your tolerance for risk, and to develop realistic investment expectations commensurate with your comfort level.
