More about Susan Gahrns
I am lawyer and mediator with over 28 years of experience. My attitude is practical and settlement focused. I believe that court proceedings are rarely the best process option for resolving family law issues. Instead, I believe that the better approach is to negotiate a solution which meets the entire family’s interests, now and in the future. Even when done amicably, the ending of a relationship is emotionally and financially stressful. I am committed to helping my clients through their separation in a respectful and cost effective way, so that they may achieve the most beneficial outcome and move forward with their lives.
I am a founding member and director of Collaborative Practice Ottawa. I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Family Mediators. I have taught family law at Algonquin College and have been a guest lecturer in Collaborative Practice Ottawa at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law. I have extensive training in conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation, collaborative law, and the separation experience.
