Steve Duplain

I have been a practicing lawyer since my call to the Ontario Bar in June 2010.  Prior to this, I completed undergraduate studies with honours in psychology and law school at the University of Ottawa.

I began my legal career working in a busy law firm in downtown Ottawa, which provided me with an opportunity to quickly gain a lot of practical experience as a litigator previously working in the fields of family law, child protection defence and criminal defence.

I launched Duplain Law in June 2016 and have since continued to successfully represent hundreds of clients from all walks of life in their family law matters.  A significant portion of my matters have also involved families that have faced issues regarding mental health, substance abuse or domestic violence.

Over the years, I have come to truly appreciate the benefit the collaborative approach can bring to the practice of family law. I have found this to be especially true in difficult separations where more professional support is needed or that could otherwise end up in lengthy and expensive family trials.

I firmly believe that collaborative practice affords clients the greatest opportunity to overcome the barriers to resolution by choosing a process that treats their family with the utmost dignity and respect, and is fully dedicated to achieving their most important goals.
