More about Karine Jackson

Since her call to the bar in 2011, Karine Jackson has been practicing family law in both official languages.

Karine started her legal career at a national law firm in Ottawa where she worked as a litigator, advising clients on contractual, commercial and family law as well as medical malpractice.

Karine then went on to practice child welfare litigation as in-house counsel with a child protection agency, appearing regularly in both official languages before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as well as the child protection regulatory tribunal in contested motions, settlement conferences, pre-trial conferences and trials.

As a litigation lawyer, Karine has provided legal advice on the interpretation and application of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and related areas such as family law and criminal law.

Karine has significant experience in advocacy, drafting agreements, participating in mediation, and is skilled at negotiating successful outcomes for her clients. Karine is acutely aware of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals in the legal system and prides herself in ensuring a legal approach that is efficient, compassionate and transparent for all individuals.

Karine’s main area of practice is family law. She values collaborative practice as an out of court process that addresses the emotional, financial and legal issues that arise from separation and divorce.
